At a ceremony held at the council secretariat on Sunday, Malé City Mayor, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and the Director of the Uyoon Institute, Dr Ali Zahir, signed the agreement.
The sessions will be carried out in four mosques in Malé; however, the council has not specified the mosques yet.
According to a statement by the city council, the initiative was proposed by the Uyoon Institute to carry out these sessions for children and teenagers below the age of 18 who reside in the Malé area and are interested in memorizing the Holy Quran.
Since the proposal aligned with the council’s objectives, it wanted to facilitate the opportunity for the children, the statement said.
Uyoon Institute, located in Malé, is recognized by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA). It specializes in Arabic and Islamic studies but also offers short courses and workshops in English language and life skills.
